Teaching Your Teens to Drive

AAA Program can help parents and teens learn together

Parental involvement is critical during the driver education process and AAA has put together a package of lesson materials titled Teaching Your Teens to Drive, that helps parents work with their teenage drivers during the driver education process.

These materials characterize AAA's approach to driver training — introduce the responsibility of driving to teens in graduated stages through a proven training curriculum based on the most common causes of teen-driver crashes. Teaching Your Teens to Drive contains a colorfully illustrated handbook, detailed teacher guide, live-action video and interactive DVD.

Thirteen lessons focus on developing the following skills:

• Basic vehicle control
• Positioning and speed adjustment
• Passing and off-road maneuvers
• Visual search habits
• Freeway and night driving
• Driving on slippery surfaces
• Reducing risks
