Save Money on Your Teen's Insurance


What can teenage drivers do to reduce insurance premiums?


1. Keep the driving record clean. This is the best way to lower car insurance costs for teens. Rates may seem high in comparison to rates for adult drivers, but tend to escalate quickly if the teen begins to collect tickets or get in crashes.

2. Get good grades. Usually having a 3.0 or higher GPA will reduce a teen's car insurance premium.

3. Have your parents add you to their auto insurance policy as an additional driver. This way, discounts applied to the parent's policy will be passed on to the teen.

4. Steer clear of sports cars. Driving a safe car, with the latest safety equipment will lower your premiums.

5. Teens should complete a driver's education course. Also find out about a defensive driving course to reduce premiums.

6. Don't rely solely on driver's education. There may be an opportunity to reduce a teen's auto insurance premiums by enrolling them in the teenSmart driver training course home study program.
